We want to get from Hong Kong to Yangshuo in May. We would like local transport if easy and possible. We have heard about train (via Guangzhou) and luxury coach from Kowloon...Can you give us any details?
Also, any ideas for accommodation in Yangshuo that is decent but not too expensive?

The easy way for you to come to Yangshuo from Hongkong by the local way is:
You can take the train from Kowlong area in Hongkong to Chinese boarder Luohu(in Shenzhen) and it takes about 1-1:30 hours from Kowlong to Luohu boarder, the price is about 33 H.K.$,after you arrived Luohu boarder and you will need to walk about 300 meters to the Centr Plaza Hotel in Shenzhen,there are buses leave from the front of this Hotel to Yangshuo,one leave at the morning 09:00 A.M, another one leaves at 21:00 P.m and both take around 9 or 10 hours to Yangshuo,the price is about 250 yuan.
The good place to stay, to see and experience the Chinese culture ,I think you should try to come and stay at the Yangshuo Culture House, and that is only 30-50 yuan per person per night .
