It will be my first trip to China for work and Shenzhen is in my itinerary. I will be coming from HK. Is travelling by land the best way to get there or is flying an option too? Which one would you recommend? How long will it take to drive to Shenzhen?

I used to take the EE bus whenever I land in HK airport going to Shenzhen. when you exit the immigration, turn left and walk towards the end of the hall, you'll find EE bus counter. Women will approach you and ask where you want to go. Schedule is between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. destinations include Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Shenzhen Airport, Huizhou, Foshan, Changping etc. . yo u pay about 100HKD.
Alternatively, you can take the ferry going to Shekou (this is about 30 minutes away from shenzhen down town). it's faster than the bus but a little more expensive (around 180HKD). I now take this route because it's more convenient, you don't have to go through HK immigration, and your luggage is taken care of by the ferry staff.
