THE Qinghai-Tibet Railway will launch a freight service in March and will start passenger trains in July, Xinhua reported, citing Wu Weizhou, director of the Qinghai-Tibet railway construction.
The 1,142-kilometer railway goes through Tanggula Mountain, making the Qinghai-Tibet Railway the highest elevated railway in the world.
This railway will have a station in Lhasa, capital of Tibet, at an altitude of more than 3,600 meters.
The station's construction has entered its final stage. As the biggest freight station of the Qinghai-Tibet link, Lhasa station covers about 20,000 square meters and will be decorated in a Tibetan style.
The construction companies plan to finish Lhasa's station in February. |
