I need all the help I can get from you good people out there. I am planning to explore China in March/April 2005 Tell me a good way to do it.
Can I take this route by train or bus (which I prefer rather than plane) - Hong Kong->Macau->Kunming->Guilin ->Chongqing->Xian->Beijing->Tianjin->Jinan-> Nanjing->Shanghai->Hangzhou-> Fuzhou->
Guangzhou->HongKong....
I would appreciate all suggestions and advices.Thank you very much.

You can do most of that journey by train, with a little bit of ferry thrown in. I suggest you go to Macao and back by ferry, but you can get a bus to Guangzhou. After that, pick up a long long long 2 days journey to Kunming (but it will be worth it!). Trains can take you then to Guilin and beyond.
Whichever you choose, you're in for a lot of lugging of bags around from station to hotel and so on. But that's what you expect when you go independently. Trains are great places to meet Chinese people, much better than just flying in and out. Enjoy yourself
