Is there a museum in Beijing that showcases the city's history? I want to learn how the city evolved through the centuries. Hope the displays have English captions, of course..

There is the brand new "Capital Museum", on west ChangAn Jie, which is I believe named Fuchengmenwai dajie on that section, it is at the south-west corner with Baiyun lu
Everybody will know the corner of changan jie and baiyun lu

as everything in Beijing, if you get there after 3:30 pm chances are they won't let you in
