hongkong and beijing trip |

My friend and I will be spending 6 nights in Beijing and 6 nights in Hong Kong during the last 2 weeks of May.
In Beijing we want to visit the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, Ti'anammen Square and the Temple of Heaven.
In Hong Kong we want to visit Victoria Peak, Ocean Park, take the Star Ferry, go shopping!
I want to ask your advice on a good itinery in the time we have for places to go and also places which are maybe less touristy but well worth a visit. We are both keen photographers so scenery and temples and historic sights are of great interest to us.
There are alot of websites which show the top tourist attractions to visit in each place but I would really like to hear from people who have been there and done it...bought the t-shirt etc!! and can give useful advice and any tips which would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

Lama temple is a must see, but I don't think you are allowed to take pictures there. You can combine Tianamen Square and Forbidden City, since they are truly across the street. As a photographer, you might be interested in a Hutong (alley) tour - even more precious as many are being demolished before the Olympics
6 nights is a bit much in HK. Maybe head over to Macau for a night.....
There's a fast ferry between Hong Kong and Macau. It takes an hour and costs around HK$140 one way.
If there are two people, it's usually cheaper to buy a package including hotel and return ferry tickets from one of the travel agents at the Macau ferry pier in Hong Kong. Packages start from around HK$800 for weekdays which means you are getting a night in a decent hotel for around HK$200., much cheaper than a similar hotel in Hong Kong. |
