The best hotel in Shanghai |
|
|
We'll be visiting Shanghai for 3 or 4 days in June prior to taking the overnight train up to Beijing to continue a week-long stay. We'll want to stay at a nice hotel, however, it's not necessary that the hotel be a 5-star by any means.
Location is the most important feature to us. We've never been to Shanghai and want to make the most of a short visit. Where should we stay to take advantage of our time. A little nightlife is always a good thing as well.
If there is a wholesale jewelry district, we'll definitely want to try to make some contacts in that area.
Thanks in advance for any assistance that can be provided |

Highly recommend JW Marriot Tomorrow Square, which is the highest building in Puxi Area. It is near People Square, so it is in the real city center, you have a walk to the local area and commercial area nearby and easy to find you way back home.

One special thing about Shanghai compared to most other Chinese cities are the hotels from colonial times. So try for example the Astor House at the beginning of the Bund. It is the first and oldest hotel of Shanghai and despite famous guests like Charly Chaplin, Einstein, President Grant, Bertrand Russel, and so on, it is quite cheap.
So, it is right at the Bund, in walking distance to NanjingLu - but for nightlife and markets you have to other kinds of transportation.
For airport connections there is a shuttle bus on the opposite street side (Shanghai Mansions). |
