From Beijing to Lhase Mar/Apr |

Hello,
Next month i'm leaving for a world tour. Plan to be in Beijing around the 17th of March and traveling through China to Lhasa.
# Beijing
# Xian
# Chengdu
# Yangshuo
# Lijang
# Lhasa
Doing all of this by train/bus. And plan to do this in about 6 to 7 weeks.
I've never been to China so all of you with experience :
Can i do this by public transport, is 6 to 7 week a reasonable time and do you have any tips for me (good cheap hostels/cheap travel agencies/good food).
My first plan was to go from Xian to Yangshuo and skip Chengdu, but got the impression that i should go to Chengdu, especially 'cause i want to see the panda's.
Anybody of you traveling through China during March/April ? |

My suggestion is to do it like this:
Beijing
Xian
Guilin/Yangshuo
Kunming/Lijiang
Chengdu
Lhasa
This sounds like the easies intinerary to me as the easiest/cheapest way to get to Tibet is via Chengdu.
But whatever you do, train and bus is available all the way - except for going to Lhasa.
Things to know... Hm, check to see that you get on the fastest trains to save time. They go by the name T or K followed by a small number, like T13 (BJ to SH I think)
Have a good trip! |
