China has progress tremendously in the last 20-30 years. Building and factories appear everywhere in the suburbs and the cities. Progress comes with a heavy price .. and that is pollution. So what is good, bad and the ugly side of progress?

1. The Good ... In progress, China has risen very fast in the economic ladder. There are jobs for the people and the living standard is good.

2. The Bad ... Building and factories consumes a lot of fuel and coal. This give rise to atmospheric and environmental pollution. 70 percent of China lakes and rivers are polluted by industrial waste. 300 million rural residents have no access to safe drinking water.

3. The Ugly ... Factories are dumping industrial waste into the rivers. This have caused a increase in the health problems of the people living along the rivers. cancer rates are reported to be higher and so do other health problems.

Hopefully China's Greenpeace can do something to improve the situation.
