is $125 pp for a one day tour in shanghai too much? |

We will be in Shanghai for one day, docked in WaiGaoQiao port, about a 60 minute drive from the center of Shanghai. The private guide we've been e-mailing, wants $125U.S. per person for a one day tour. Is that too much? If so, what should we tell him we want to pay that is fair and the going rate. The ship will offer a shuttle into the city for $20 each way. Should we opt for that? Are the major Shangahi sights easy to see if we're on our own? Thanks for any suggestions... |

I think $20 each way shuttle is a reasonable offer. If you opt for taxi, it will be only more expensive and I don't think there is any other options available. $125 per person could be lower but it all depends on whether meals and places the package includes. If you go to Shanghai, you may be surprised it's no longer a "cheap" place to visit anymore. Please make sure the private guide has proper insurance and right permits for his/her services. Last but not the least, make sure s/he won't only take you to shopping unless that's what you want from visiting this city. |
