hi,
any ideas on cheap hotels in Beijing? we are students, we'd like to stay close to the Railway station, but that's looking like it won't be a possibility because we are BROKE  any hidden secrets for cheap places, or hotels that are further away but on the train lines? otherwise maybe we'll just sleep on the sidewalk.

Zhaolong Youth Hostel is the cheapest one I have seen US$8 adress: Walking distance to Sanlitun and easy access to the city center.
City Xinmingji Hotel is theanother cheapest hotel I have seen in Beijing US$16 In the Ping'an Road, only several minutes from the hotel to the business center-Wangfujing and Dongdan.
