travel to Xinjiang during the Ramadan, what to be care? |
|
|
Hello
I'm planning my trip to Xijiang this October, and it's happens to be during the month of Ramadan. Is it a good or bad time to visit? Are there any advices you could give me, regarding things I need to be careful about, what to avoid, the customs, where to eat during the day, maybe some things that are good to experience during the holy month, in short: life in kashgar during Ramadan
Although I am not a muslim, I live in a country and town with a large popularity of muslims, so I know the general customs:) I just don't know how it is in Turkey:) |

If you go to the area around Chinese district, then you can eat and drink all day. Lot's of porks don't observe the ramadan.
Be respectful in the working class neighbourhoods as people there are often from muslim Uygur and tend to be more religious.
I wouldn't advice you to drink alcohol in public during daylight hours anywhere, eventhough it's possible.
It could upset some people.

Your assurance is well appreciated..really want to make this short trip memorable for my parents. I visited your pages and the tips there are helpful...thank you.
For me, there's no such thing as ugly especially when visiting other places. But your point was well taken...maybe the oldies will not like the busy city life after all. |
