I will be coming to Dali in October need to know which area is good to stay, looking for a 3 or 4 star hotel and good location. So can go around in Dali easily.

I would personally recommend staying at Fu Chun He Guesthouse. It is right on the foreigners street. Practical one minute from your guesthouse and you are on the street. it is a typical ethnic Bai guesthouse.
