Hi fellow travel-a-holics!
I'm flying to Guangzhou (Canton), China after two weeks. I'm staying there one week and started to dream about including also a short side-trip to Macau during these time limits. All the tips & information about connections, schedules annd approfimate prices from Guangzhou to Macau would be welcome.
Give me also your opinions is there any senso to make it spending just one night in Macau or do i need at least 2 nights?
Tips about what to see & where to stay in Macau are also needed. |

Macau is a small place and easier to get around. The square in the centre and the museum near the old ruined church of St Pauls are good. It's nice just to wander around the streets of the older parts - it's very different to almost any other city in Asia.
Therefore one night is enough for most people to see the sights.
However, a very important reason to go to Macau is the food. therefore I would recommend staying 2 nights so that you can enjoy more meals there.
Not sure about travel connections from Guanghzou, although there are direct buses and ferries from some ports in the Pearl River Delta.
Hotel costs start from around MOP$250 a night. There are some guest houses that are cheaper.

Remember, you'd need a double entry visa if you are returning to GZ.
Macau, two days, for sure.
You can easily catch a bus to Macau from GZ from the major expensive hotels like the China Hotel. It used to be about 70 rmb and take a bit more than 2 hours to get there.
A NICE place to stay is Pousada de Mong ha, but it's expensive. |

I agree with kamal...It's a great place to visit, food is good, seems less crowded, good city to walk, great having a Heineken at the outdoor tables in Senate Square, and I usually stay at the Pousada de Coullaone ( I always mispell the name of the island..sort of rural, yet close by bus to downtown, and on a beach. Not very expensive and often offers on...ask for discount.... Have fun but two days definately.
have a good tour |

Several buses to Zhuhai per day from Canton, should be easy to just turn up and get a seat on the next bus. Macau is nice, I just overnighted there this time , but spent a week with my studying cousin there 2 years ago, enough to see and do, and a nice break from Chinese cities. Great food (except for the dried pork they sell in the streets ...).
And like Ruth says, you need a double entry visa if you want to return to China.
Have fun~ |
