Here's my dilemma.
I have 6 months left in the passport now, and the Chinese Embassy in Japan just issued a tourist visa to me.
But when I take my trip to China 1 month from now, there will only be 5 months of validity left in my passport - though I will still, of course, have the visa.
Am I gonna get in? Anyone heard of people being turned away in this situation? I don't want to have to get a new passport, new visa, etc. if I don't have to....

The China Entry Card does not ask for date of issue or date of expiry so you might slip past, relying on the Immigration Officer not knowing or noticing the validity of your passport. However the HK Entry Card does ask for date of issue and could draw attention. I think you are tempting fate!
