questions on jeep trip to Lhasa |
|
|
3 of us are going to arrange this trip when we get to Lhasa. We want to set/plan-out the itinerary ourselves rather than just paying up and letting them take us on their tour.
For those of you who have done this, I would love to hear your "ideal trip" with the benefit of your hindsight.
Also, some specific questions I had :
1) What is the comfortable capacity of the jeep ? We do not mind paying a bit more and have more space.
2) I noticed that most jeep trip agendas only spend a few hours in Shigatse and Gyantse (just stopping for the night). Do these sights warrant spending a whole day there (letting the jeep & driver stay idle) ?
3) How many days is a comfy/un-rushed pace ?
4) Any off-the-beaten path places which the standard jeep trip does not do which are worthwhile ? |

Three is plenty for one jeep (ie Toyota Land Cruiser). Especially if you take a guide as well as the driver. Most jeep tours do in fact overnight in both Gyantse and Shigatse. To do it relaxed including Everest north base camp, allow 5-6 days Lhasa to Kathmandu. Add on a day or two more if you want to visit Samye and Sakya.
I hope it would help to your tour.
have fun
