safe/cheap place for travelers to store luggage in Shanghai? |
|
|
Hello!
Me and my girlfriend are trying to move to Shanghai, I have a few questions...
1) Does anyone know of a safe/cheap place to store luggage in Shanghai?
2) We're hoping to rent an apartment for 3 months. Can anyone recommend a way for finding such an apartment or real estate agent? Would it be better to look in That's Shanghai, Chinese newspapers (I can read/speak some Chinese), or go through a company? We were hoping to find something for 2000-3000 kuai per month. Is that unrealistic?
3) This is part question, part recommendation. I visited Shanghai last summer and stayed in an amazing hostel, but I've forgotten the name and lost the name card. It was new, just opened last summer, and located in western Shanghai near Zhongshan West road. It was by a courtyard and located right above a retirement home. The name was long, something like International Exchange Foreign Youth Guesthouse... It was clean, quiet, well-furnished, staff very friendly, some could speak decent English, and at 60 kuai per bed per night not a bad deal at all for Shanghai. If anyone recognizes this place, and maybe could remind me the address/phone, I'd be so grateful.
Thanks so much, |

There is a manual luggage deposit in front of Shanghai main train station. It musn't be expensive and looks reliable. I've used it once and didn't have any trouble.
The hostel you talk about is Maggie Youth Hostel on 1825 Tianshan Lu (tel 86-21-62736183, maggieyouthhostel@yahoo.com.cn).I'was staying there right a month ago and it's indeed a nice place, though I prefer the Captain Hostel on 37 Fuzhou Lu, which is one of the most beautiful hostels I've seen untill now and a way much better location!! ( www.captainhostel.com.cn ).
I hope it would help your tour |
