What about Urumqi to Lanzhou by train?? Just curious. Looking at a map, it seems it would pass through a very interesting terrain..?
any hints will be appreciated |

Although I didn't see that much of Urumqi-Lanzhou due to daylight hours, I think most of it will be monotonous desert scenery.
What is unexpectedly interesting is a short yet slow segment between Lanzhou and Xi'an, from Tianshui top Baoji. This section takes you through the winding Wei River canyon past the Liupan Mountains, all in a rather arid scenery. |
