Hi
Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Shanghai? Also since the airport is far away from the centre of town, how much do taxis cost and how easy is it to get around? |

hi make the tour cheaper by saving money on the accomodation is common now,Putong to Nanjing Lu is about 120RMB. Be careful as there will be drivers (hawkers) at the airport trying to offer their services. These guys are very expensive and charge 2-3+ times the standard taxi fare. Only take a taxi from the taxi rank located outside the airport and refuse any offers.
Alternatively take the magnetic train Maglev - if you take it I will be jealous OR buses.
if you want a cheap place do a search for Pujiang Hotel or Captain's Hostel.

There are heaps of good hotels....really depends on your budget and where you want to be located. Best option is near Nanjing Lu in central shanghai as it is close to most major attractions and also close to the subway. Getting to those further away places can be acheived by taxi, subway or local bus. If catching a taxi, try and get a English/Chinese map so that you can show the driver - reduces confusion as the drivers can not read English and rarely read pinyin. |
