hello all my fellow travellers. I have been searching the net for descript routes and guides along the silk road. But I am only finding the history, which is helpfull and all... but.. I want to go soon, starting from Turkey. Can anyone give me good links, advice, etc? Thanks all |

You can learn as much as you can from silk-road.Come and keep it in mind as you travel. The 'Silk Road' was always more than one particular route and you need a fair bit of imagination to make the past come to life. In Samarkand for example you need to either ignore Soviet town planning or take it as part of more recent history. On the Kyrgyz-Chinese border most of what gets traded along that road is scrap metal and heroin - no silk in sight. Incidentally, I was wearing a silk shirt for most of the way and few people recognized the material.
I also can tell you that the longest silk route in China is between Kashgar-Xian |
