time and scenary recommended on tour Tibet |
|
|
Hi Everyone,
I would like to see if anyone can recommend a vague itineary for me in Tibet. I think I will be flying from Bejieng, I understand it might be best to make arrangements from Chengdu instead? I will fly into Lhasa and stay there for a few days. I can not do any major hiking, but would like to see areas of beautiful scenary that anyone can recommend. I would also like to get a good taste of the culture of the Tibetan people. Any suggestions would be appreciated, and length of time recommended? 10days? 15 days?
Thank you |

The classic one would be spending 3 days to tour in Lhasa seeing the sights there and adjust to the altitude. Visit places like Barkhor Square, Jokhang Temple ( at Barkhor), visit the Potala, Sera Monestary ( 3 pm for the monks debate) and Drepung Monastery. Then 1 day visiting Ganden Monastery. Buses leave at Barkhor early morning, returning in the afternoon. maybe 1-2 days visiting samye and Yarlung.
Then I would recommend spending 2 days tour and 1 night visiting Nam Tso Lake. Usually easy to find people to share a 4wd for going there.
The 7 days classic route tour visiting Yam Drok Tso, Gyantse, Shigatse, Sakya and Everest and either going to the Nepali border or returning to Lhasa can also highly be recommended. Needs a few days planning to sort out the permits and driver, guide and 4wd. Easy to arrange through one of the agencies, but you will have to find other people to share the car. start looking for company when you arrive in Lhasa to get things arranged. Some people combine the Nam Tso visit with the 7 days tour. |
