I could still get to Kunming for a trip to China |
|
|
I am arriving in Hong Kong on 24th September and then starting an Intrepid tour from Kunming on the 3rd October. I'm very worried about being able to catch public transport - buses, ferries or trains to Kunming from HK without booking in Australia before I leave. Should I try to start my trip to Kunming straightaway? Can anyone advise whether if I spent a few days in HK first I could still get to Kunming? I haven't been to either China or HK before so I would like to spend a few days acclimatising first in HK. At the end of my trip, I have another 7 days before I have to be back in HK to fly home.
thank you |

Hong Kong won't get you acclimated to the mainland. It is totally different. Maybe save the HK tours for the end.
Travel during this first week of October will be daunting, but still can be done. Get a jump on some of the things and expect that prices will jump during the holiday.

Book your fares from HK to Kunming when you arrive in HK. Usually if you book your tickets 3-5 days before departure during October National Holidays you will not have any problems getting seats.
Also agree that you will pay for an arm and leg if you prepay the fare in Australia. Wait until you arrive and save money.
