Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone know of such a place. And also I kmow there's a market in Shanghai that sells all the north face gear etc. Does anyone know of such a market in Beijing and also what the quailty of the gear is like. I'm in a dilema whether to buy all the gortex stuff at home incase the quailty of the stuff isn't great.

A warning on buying North Face gear in China. Much of the gear that you can buy in China ends up being poor quality fakes. Even if the vendors claim it is real it often isn't. I lived in Beijing for 4 years and this was often the case. It may hold up for a while, but don't expect something that will last the same amount of time as any gear you buy in the USA. Bargain hard so that you get a good price. Hong Qiao is a good place as is a market near San Li Tun called Yashou. A very good market. Some recomendations can be found here: http://www.cityweekend.com.cn/en/beijing/stories/beijingnotebook_2004_20
The vendors at these stores will charge you more but the chances of their gear being slightly more legitimate are better. You can usually still bargain in genuine stores so give it a shot. It cartainly can't hurt.
Best of luck! |

There are many hostels in Beijing but after trying the many the one I always stay at now (if I can get a rioom there) is Zen hostelry. Super place! and only about 10 minutes by bus or taxi from Sanlitur night life. this is the only one that I know of that is really kept up and has the works.
you can check it out at zenhostelry.com. best of luck dude |
