China Costs (Yunnan,Sichuan etc). |

Hi,
I apologize for the common question, but am wondering how much more expensive China is to travel in then say South East Asia. Thinking mostly of rural areas, and transport. Thinking about travelling Sichuan, Yunnan, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang (approx. 3 months). Not so worried about the cities. Can you get by on $12-$15 a day. Are foriegners still charged heaps more than Chinese to take the train and bus etc. ?
Thanks, |

as for yunnan and sichuan, i was there march to may this year, and in comparison to Thailand it was ridiculously cheap. Buses and trains are relatively expensive though. Chinese pay the same as foreigners, this is for sure. E.g. - for accomodation i never paid more than 20 yuan, and it was not a dormitory at all. westren food is a bit expensive, but reasonable. 12-15 usd per day - easily. have fun! |
