frist travel to Hong Kong and to Kunming ????????? |

I am considering going on an Intrepid tour of the Yunnan region in October which commences from Kunming. I want to visit HK first and then overland to Kunming to start the trip. Can anyone advise how many days it would take to get to Kunming from HK after spending a few days in HK looking around?

I did it the same way in March, so it took me 40 minutes to get out of HK by metro, then I crossed the border to China to Shenzhen. The bus from there to Guanzhou was 4 hours. Guanzhou-Nanning was 10 hours overnight. Nanning-Kunming is about 15 hours by train or so. Check out the site www.seat61.com -reliable train schedule for China. Actually trains are much more reliable over there, and in many cases cheaper than buses.
