2 weeks travel to and around Beijing |
|
|
Hello,
I am heading to China for the 1st time at the end of August but unfortunately only have 2 weeks. I'm flying into and out of Beijing, but I'm keen to get away from the city in the limited time I have.
I haven't yet started reading up about the surrounding area as yet (need to go and buy the LP) but was hoping that people could suggest any particularly great sights I can get to in the time available. Keen to get to Xi'an, is this too far and are there towns between Beijing and Xi'an worth spending time in?
Have also heard good things about Qingdao?
Thanks in advance. |

People tend to visit either Luoyang/Shaolin Temple or Datong/Pingyao and maybe Wutaishan between Beijing and Xi'an. The main thing to see in Datong and Luoyang are caves with carved Buddhas, so it is enough for most people to visit on or the other. The towns themselves are nothing special. Shaolin is famous for martial arts, and Pingyao is an old town with the town wall still intact. |
