bargain on ticket of a air trip of Beijing-Xian-Guilin |

Hi,
Is it possible to bargain airline tickets from Beijing to Xian to Guilin round trip while in Beijing? A local agent quoted me for $510 for an adult. Is this reasonable?
Thanks for any tips. |

I would wait until you get there. I bought international airfare to Peiking from a company that specializes in travel to China. They told me to wait for China domestic tickets because the prices from the US are too high. I found a website www.elong.com. My vacation isn't until late May, so I don't have firsthand experience to share. I think the first week of May is a national holiday which will make getting tickets at that time difficult. |

Hello, I am now in China and I think buying the ticket in China is a good choice, but make sure you have enough time, because I had to be somewhere in time and nobody understands you (only very few people speak English) and if they do understand they usually want to take advantage of you.
Don't take my advise to seriously, because if they take advantage of you it means that they ask a 3 dollar tip for help, that may be very much here, but at home you would pay much more for the ticket so let them help you...
you can usually make a 50% discount if your are not in a holliday period in respect to the price you would pay at home, but be aware that it is a difficult task getting to the right person.
Hope you have lots of fun in China like I am having now. greetings ronald

It is true that you can get a better deal when you are in China buying the domestic ticket. The price of the ticket depends on the date, time, and the destination of the flight. They always can give you "discount fare". The discount can range from 5% to 80%. It is true. If you are in Beijing hotel, there are someone can help you as they may know some English. Some airlines i.e. China Eastern, Air China may have counters inside the hotel as well. Check with them. It is the culture in China to give discount to their customers. It all depends how good you are in bargining. Be on the look-out for your wallet and passoprt. Have a nice time in China.
