where are you going?theres quite a lot of difference between the cities and the country side... 1300 yuan will probably give you 4 to 5 days worth of accomodation, food and beers, and one transport haul, if I recall correctly, in the countryside |

Well, yen is in Japan yuan is in China...
Beijing starts at around 60 Yuan a night for accommodation, you can get a meal for anywhere between 5 and 50 Yuen (20 is a safe bet). Beer is between 2 and 10 if you go for a local brew or much more (20+) if you take Carlsberg and the rest of the foreign brands.
Transport can vary widely, taxis being fairly pricey (expect 20-50 Yuan depending on where you go in Beijing) but mass transportation is usually ridiculously cheap. Think 3 Yuan for the subway and 15 for a 150km ride in a public bus. Inside the city public buses go at 1 for a ride. |

On my trip last month (20 days), I probably averaged less than 240 yuan per day. This includes accom, meals, sleeper trains between cities (some hard, some soft), entry fees to sites, a couple of day tours (to save the hassle of local transport and fit in a few sites at once) and a Yangze cruise. Does not include shopping though.
Depending on your itin and what you want to fit in, you could definately do it on less than that. You're accom will vary from 35 to 70, pp in dorm rooms, depending on the city. As per #5, Y20 each will get you a good feed if you are eating with another person. |
