Hi, I'm moving to Kunming soon and want to know about housing. I know this is a travel page but I need to find help from people who live there or have been there!!
I'm looking for very nice housing, western style 2000 sqf, maybe a house if possible and something quite new. Having lived China before I know finding good housing can be hard.
I have a budget of about 16,000-24,000 RMB.

Suggest you stay at Dianchi area, nice detached houses. If you need further help,message me. |

Dianchi is nice, but heard mosquitoes can be a problem in summer if you live just by the lake. But yeah, generally houses in the west side of Kunming are beautiful. Otherwise try the area close to the expo park (north-east)Grab the local newspapers (50c each) once you get here, and start searching. There are a lot of ads on new houses/apartments now. |

For your budget, you can stay anywhere in Kunming. Housing are usually about 2000-5000 Rmb for those really nice ones, some with pools. For the local people housing, it's only 200-500 Rmb. If 16,000-24,000 is your monthly budget, adding it up for a year, and if you plan to stay for at least 3 years, you could easily afford to buy an apartment. Kunming housing is in conclusion, rather cheap and affordable. |
