What's the route? Beijing to Kunming,Yunnan |

Wanted to know if anyone has taken the train from Beijing to Kunming in Yunnan. I want to hike Tiger Leaping Gorge, but don't want to back track. Does the train route to Yunnan from Beijing go through Chengdu or is it more to the east. I am in Xinjiang Province now and want to make a round trip to Yunnan in a couple of weeks. My itinerary is something like this; Beijing-Chengdu-tiger leaping Gorge-Kunming-Xian-Beijing. something like that. Also, what was the latest prices for hard sleeper to Chengdu or Kunming from Beijing... |

Here's the train schedule, with hard sleeper (middle bunk) prices in RMB. T trains are the fastest, followed by K and then those without any alphabet in front of the train number.
the rail things have changed so many times this year (and I bet for the past few years too) that I can't really keep up. I know they changed once in April after they implemented the Z trains, once in October and yet again on 11th November this year. -sigh- I do know that the info I gave should be the up-to-date ones though.
Beijing (West) to Chengdu:
K117 11:29 -- 18:05 next day (418)
T7 16:35 -- 18:37 next day (418)
Beijing (West) to Kunming:
T61 18:40 -- 10:21 (578) |
