Can anyone offer me advice on ways of getting from downtown Beijing to Xingang port?

You can take train from Beijing to Tanggu in Tianjin, which takes only about 2 hours. Both soft seat and hard seat is Ok.after you arrive in Tanggu, you can easily find a bus to Xingang.
