My wife and I just went to Kashgar on july hot weather quite a safeplace. We at a nice hotel It This hotel wae clean and tide reception was very friendly and helpful people . If you are interested i can also recommend you the chinese driver who was very very nice |

Shanghai and Beijing are good place but, of course, they are not on
the Silk Road. But westerners must start by flying in to a city that is not
on the Silk Road. it is my item: start from Beijing - Xi'An - Shanghai -
Turpan - Urumqi- and either fly back to to Kashgar . |

Is Kashgar Really China Xinjiang Autonomous Region it really in over
the border?
safe is it there for westerners, most importantly, Americans ,italians . |

Kasgar is in XinJiang, China. Many Westerners go there every year. It
is very safe worth the visit. From there you can travel up the
Karakorm highway on the way to Pakistan. This really is the roof of the
world.
