We're starting our journey off in Hong Kong and it would be nice to have something booked in advance. For most of our trip we'll be going the cheapest possible place route, but something a little nicer while we acclimate isn't a bad idea.any infirmation?

I've heard good things about the Mt. Davis Youth Hostel as well. I think there is a 3 night maximum stay.
Hong Kong is pretty compact so where you stay isn't so much a problem as with some other cities. Tsim Sha Tsui (the lower Kowloon Peninsula) is one of your best bets. The YMCA Salsibury Rd. is right next to all modes of transport, the Star Ferry is across the street, the MTR is around the corner, and there is a bus terminus at the Star Ferry and you can walk (almost) everywhere!! They might also have dorm rooms. The Shamrock in Jordan is also good, next to the MTR, within walking distance of loads of stuff. Wanchai on HK Island is also a great location. There is a Star Ferry pier in Wanchai as well as in Central. If you are looking for more on the budget side of things, then have a look at Mirador Mansions. It's right on Nathan Rd. in TST. and is supposed to be cleaner and nicer than the gusthouses in Chungking Mansions. (although the curry in Chungking is pretty good and cheap! especially Khyber Pass)
Hong Kong isn't the cheapest city, but have fun and know that you will be able to save when you get to SEA!!
Oh, I almost forgot, the HK tourist board offers free tai chi classes every day except Tuesday by the clock tower in TST. They start at 8AM.
