Don't Worry.Shanghai is a safe city. If this is your first time there, plus with a 7 month babe, think about taking taxi.
Taxi fee: board down at 10 yuan (1.2 USD) for the first 5km. And then 2 yuan per km(from 5-30kms).and 3 yuan upper 30kms. But 2.3yuan per km from 11pm-6am.Also you can bargain if you wanna rent a taxi for a day.

Definitely choose cars from big companies. 'Cause they won't cheat you by going a long way to your destination.
Here is the hint: yellow cars are from Johnson Co.
green ones are from Dazhong Co.
white ones are from Jinjiang Co.
All red ones are from small companies.
There is a small board near the top of the windshield which shows the level of the driver (from one star to five star).
Drivers who has no less than three stars offer good service and they can speak a little English. But I haven't got in a car with 4 stars or more because the number of them is very limited. And most of the drivers have only 1 or 2 stars.
There are 500 Mercedes taxi in the city (clearly the rarity of the rarities). |
