Im intend to have a trip to China for the end of July and I'm pretty excited!
I've never ever been there before and I'm worried about the language barrier.
I don't know much Chinese and was wondering if anyone had any helpful suggestions in overcoming this ?
Thanks so much |

The most important of all is Ni Hao (pron: Knee How!) - Hello.
Also:
pi jiu (pee jew) = beer
cha (chaa) = tea
wo xing [surname] (woh ssing [surname]) = I am called (surname)
Ying guo (Ying gwor) = England
Mei guo (May gwor) = USA
yao / bu yao (yow / boo yow) = Yes / No (when someone is offering something - it literally means "want" / "don't want") - Come in useful |

Use a tiny electric-dictionary(文曲星) with you. I think it will help you to communicate with local people. When you input a simple sentence in English, it wll translate to Chinese,
