Travelling Around Labour Day (may 1st) |
|
|
Hi I was just wondering, how difficult in general is it travelling around China around Labour Day? Is it just May 1st that will be busy or will the chaos last for a whole week? Is it hard to get train/bus/plane tickets?
Any help is much appreciated. |

Everything has changed this year - previously May day was a whole week, now it's just one or two days. So to some extent you know as much or as little as anyone else. Isn't every day busy and chaos? I expect though that there will be bigger crowds than usual wherever you go. |

It will be a 3-day holiday instead of 7-day holiday, from this year onwards. This year the chaos will be 30/4 to roughly 5/5. No less busy this year, it seems, just shorter.
Yes, train tickets for a lot of popular routes are sold out the day they go on sale. I've been buying train tickets at 0800 at the train station for the past few days.
Plane tickets possible, but don't expect much discounts. |
