I will be in China from May 21-31. I will be in Beijing then over to Shanghai. I'm curious to know of some good nightlife in Shanghai. What clubs are good to visit. Are the locals friendly with americans? |

Go to Xintiandi.
Much like any big cities, people don't normally smile or look at you and strike a conversation just like that. They just go on with their lives.
But in bars, I'm sure you won't have a problem if you make the first effort/contact. |

Ditto to Xintiandi!
If you are male and traveling by yourself, many Chinese women 'professionals' will be very friendly... be prepared to say "bu yao" (don't want) many times!
Notwithstanding that, once you've gotten past the issue above, people are very friendly. Many may want to practice their English with you once the ice is broken. |
