Visa Renewal Problems |
|
|
Most probably because of the Olympics, China is really tightening up on visas.
I'm well settled here after 7.5 years and so it's very important that I be able to continue to stay here.
Previously I was able to easily get a one-year multi-entry F-visa without leaving Shanghai.
I'm not a student and I work for myself (in this sense I don't have an employer in China).
Any suggestions as to the best ways to get over the "Olympics Visa hump."
My current visa expires on August 1st.
ANY responses or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thank you,

It's not clear - have you actually tried and failed? My guess is not, because you've got another three months yet.
I hear down here in the south that multi-entry F visa are being restricted in duration - same price, less value - and that tourist Z visas can only be obtained with an Olympic ticket in hand.
If it is just an Olympics hurdle, then that should disappear after Aug 23rd. You might just have to leave the country overnight, but why not do as I plan to: get as far away from the Olympics as possible without actually leaving the planet? I'm taking a walking holiday in Europe. |
