I'm planning to take the train from Beijing to Lhasa and fly back to Beijing in July.
Is it true that the train operates on odd dates (1st/3rd/5th) or days (Monday/Wednesday/Friday)for July? Which airlines I can take from Lhasa to Beijing and how much is the air tickets?

The train operates just on odd dates (1st/3rd/5th), but not days (Monday/Wednesday/Friday).

You can't fly direct, you'd need to go via Chengdu or Kunming or Chongqing.

The quoted fare is maximum. Depending on time of day, day of week, etc. you could get a discount of up to 55% off quoted price.

I don't think there's any difference in price if you book the two legs separately. So you could stay over in Chengdu and see the pandas.
