Can I traveling in China as a vegetarian? |
|
|
Hey guys!
I'm writing a guide to traveling in China as a vegetarian, and was hoping some of you could help me out. I remember some of my favorite vegetarian foods from my time there, but if others could list their picks, with English and Chinese names, it would be a big help to me. Also, do you have any special tips to offer for making the veggie life easier in China?
Thanks a lot for your help. |

Don't know if this is any help but in Beijing my favorite things were tofu and chili and tofu with blackbean sauce.
I can't remember dish names now but tofu is "doufu" and blackbean is "heidouchi".
There is also this really great thing you can get from street stalls, if you are happy to eat egg, kind of like a thin tortilla fried flat in egg and coated in a dark mildly spicy sauce and filled with chopped spring onions then all wrapped up. But again, sorry, dont remember the name!
The thing that made being veggie easiest was being able to tell people "wo bu chi rou" (i dont eat meat) |

Don't Worry |

Hello,
I don't think it's a difficult thing to travel China as vegetarian. You know Buddhism has been prevailing in China for thousands of years. In China, munks and nuns don't eat meat. They are also vegetarians. As a result, there're various dishes made from vegetable. Of course, you may think:"I won't have my meals in temples." Yes, you don't have to because there are lots of restaurants supply vegetable dishes. So, don't worry, communicate with your guide and they will arrange your dinner for you at advance.
Have any other problems, contact with me through info@travelchinaspring.com, I will try my best to give you some helpful information. |
