need advice booking room HK. |
|
|
My girlfriend and I are arriving in HK at 11:40 pm on the 25th of this month. We want a cheap place to stay and I wanted to know if it's better to book in advance.
I'm thinking of staying in the Kowloon area, as it seems to have cheap accommodation, but location is not too important to us. I've found a double room for around $30 USD a night. Is that the cheapest I'll be able to find? We don't mind walking around and looking for a place to stay, but I'm not sure if we'd benefit from that as we'll be tired from the flight and it will be late.
Thanks for any advice/help you can give us. |

The US$30 or less hostels are fine. You will have no problem with them, and there is no need to pay more than double for a hotel which will probably be inferior.
As to whether you need to book in advance, it depends on whether you need peace of mind. You will be able to find somewhere for around that price when you arrive, but if you want somewhere reserved before you arrive then book. The only problem with booking is that sometimes the room does not look like the pictures online, so therefore it is usually best to look first. If you have already paid, you do not have much bargaining power.
For looking when you get here, from the airport, catch the A21 airport bus to TST and get off at Mirador Mansions. Head to the top floor and then work your way down until you find somewhere that meets you standards and price range. There are many places in this building. Next door is Chungking mansions which has more options and touts who will find somewhere for you, although most people prefer Mirador.
have a good trip. |

If you are looking at the Guest Houses for $30 a night they sure do look dodgy.
Never stayed in them as I prefer hotels. IF you can swing it people have recommended the Salisbury YMCA(41 Salisbury Road , Tsimshatusi, China) and it looks like a nice place. |
