I am planning a trip to China in the summer of 2008 and would like to take the Lhasa Express from Beijing to Tibet. I am curious if it is possible to get off the train and reboard the next one. I understand that the trains come sometimes 2-3 times a day, but would like to know if I can get off the train and reboard with the same ticket.

As far as I know, it is impossible to get off the train and reboard at the same train another day, because their is only one train a day from the five stations as Beijing,Xiling,Lanzhou,Xi'an,Gelmu.So if u get off the train, you are not able to reboard at the same train in a day, but if you want to get off at some place, you could get there step by step.

For example, if you want to have a stop at Kekexili or Gelmu, you can just get the ticket to there. When you get to Kekexili or Gelmu, you can buy the ticket to Lhasa and have a good day there for watching the tibetan antelopes and the beautiful scenery of highland plateau.

By the way, it is a little difficult to get the train ticket and the ticket for Potala palace and a little puzzle of how to entertain yourself there, because you know the place is vast in area and inconvenient in transportation.

Somebody recommends me that We'd better find some companies to get the car rented,hotels and tickets reserved in advance. But I don't know whether it is necessary. If you want to get more details of tibet, you can contact with me when I finish my tibet holiday after this March.
