5 days in Xi'an. |

Hi,
I will be visiting a friend this MAY while she is studying in Xi'an. Due to budget, I will need to spend 90% of my trip in Xi'an (can't afford to travel extensively in China). I will also be spending most days exploring Xi'an on my own.
So, what is there to do? I've read about the Terrcotta Warriors so that is on my list.
I am very interested in learning about Chinese culture, and can easily be entertained by walking around for hours. Any recs of neighborhoods, districts, tours?
I'm up for tourist stuff too so if there are any cooking classes or shows you know of, I would appreciate the recs.
Thanks! |

Have you bought a guidebook? If you don't want Fodors, you could try Lonely Planet.
Great Mosque; the Taoist temple to the Eight Great Immortals; the Big Goose Pagoda; the Shanxi Provincial Museum; the Beilin Museum; the city walls; the drum tower.
The Muslim quarter (although it looked like it was getting taken over by Han Chinese last time I was there). Any back streets. I found a fairly interesting park last time, maybe Yingqing. |
