Sanjiang to Guilin |

Has anybody done this trip by road? If so, how long does it take and what is that state of the road. Also, what are the best places to stop and any special sites on the way back to Guilin.
We are travelling up to Longshen and Sanjiang from Guilin to visit some of the ethnic minorities as part of a trip around Guangxi province. I would be grateful for any pointers. thanks |

It's a 90 km mountain road from Sanjiang to Longsheng rice terrace and lots of bus available between two counties. The best way is to take a stop at Longsheng, visit the terrace then back to Guilin. |

I forget how long it takes, you can get there in a day though. Some of those roads can be pretty rough. From Longsheng you can visit the famous Dreagon's Bacbone Rice Terraces as a day trip though you also have the option of staying in the ethnic minority village Ping An.
If you travel to Sanjiang you can take a side trip to the Dong village at Chengyang which is characterised by a very impressive "wind and rain" bridge, constructed entirely without the use of nails. There are accommodation options in that village too.
I took the back roads all the way into Guizhou, it's an interesting way to get there but be prepared for a bumpy ride in places. |
