Yangshuo worth the detour? |

dear all.
After much reading in my Lonely Planet and Eyewitness, perusing of this website and Skype-talks with the boy-in-Beijing, next May's two-week trip (originally consulted on here last fall) has now changed in its ambitions. The more time the boy spends in Beijing, the more he likes it, so we are now alloting a total of a week there, three or four days at the start (when we will be based near him in Wudaokou) and three or four at the end when we will stay closer to the Forbidden City, et al.
That gives us a week elsewhere during which we know we want to see Xi'an, and Shanghai/Tongli. Beyond that, I'm deeply torn between venturing off to Wuyuan or taking a run down to Yangshuo. I find myself deeply attracted to those fishing/river towns and the karst hills; and with all the urbanity of Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai feel a little time in the country would be nice but also realize I may be biting off too much for one trip. Any opinions?
Thanks a lot. |
