Sichuan in winter - bit too chilly? |

hello
I'm finishing a language course in Beijing at the early April 08 and fancy doing some trekking and visiting Tibetan areas in Sichuan. Is it crazy weather-wise to think this is possible in Sichuan in early April?
I know Chengdu should be fine, but maybe routes outside and certainly to the west will be closed by snow this time of year? Any help on this area would be greatly appreciated - my geography of south-western China is quite limited.
Also I would be grateful if anyone knows and could share current flight prices from Chengdu back to Beijing.
Many thanks |

hi,
It will depend a little on where you are going to go. Places above 4000m will be cold at night and could still be on the cold side during the day. Places like Dege and Dartsedo (Kangding) usually are not too bad temperature wise in early spring.
I wouldn't let a little bit of cold stop you from going to these amazing areas of Greater Tibet. Heavy snow could still block your way from Manigango to Dege, Xiangcheng to Dechen in Yunnan and also from Sershu up to Jyekundo in Qinghai. |
