Hi!
I understand that travelers need to obtain permit to get into Lhasa. But if is a traveler already have a China's visa,do they still need a permit to Lhasa? If necessary, where is the best place to get the permit done.
I understand there're many touts and scams upon visa.Please enlighten me. Thanks! |

You need a visa / permit for the Tibet autonomous region to go to Lhasa. How easy it is to get it depends on where you are travelling from. If you are going to Tibet from Nepal then it is best to get it done in Nepal as it is cheap and you don't even need to go to the Chinese Embassy (the travel agent does it for you).
The cost is US$45 for the visa which is not stamped on your passport but given as a paper visa. They will only stamp your passport on entry/exit. Hope this helps.
