Which is the most central area to stay in Beijing for a tourist?
For all you Beijing experts - we will be in Beijing during 1st week Feb 2008 for about 4 nights.

This is our first trip there and wanted to know which is the best area from the tourist point of view to stay in from where it will be easy to cover all the must see places around. Also, if you can recomend hotels upto US$100 rate.

Thanks in advance for your help.

most tourist sites are a short bus (or MRT) ride away from each other, so location is not that critical.

The Wall is a long bus ride away, so it doesn't matter.get out a map and have a looksee. Stay in the Finance district or somewhere handy to Wangfujing.

you will want to see the Great Wall. Summer palace, the temple of heaven, Tiananmen square, Forbidden city. The Hong Qiao market. there are plenty of museums (I recommend the aviation museum on the way out to the ming tombs).

enjoy:
