Hello

About taking the bus from Shenzhen airport to HK airport... Is the customs process doable for somebody that doesn't speak Chinese?
What is involved?

thank you very much.

hi

Passing from Shenzhen to Hong Kong at any of the border points is relatively simple and should provide no difficulties for non-Chinese speakers.

When departing from Mainland China you will have to fill out a departure card (in English) and present this with your passport to an immigration official. There are different windows for foreigners, Mainland Chinese and Hong Kong residents

will be clearly indicated. Your passport will then be stamped, recording that you have left the People's Republic of China. This takes less than 5 minutes but if it is busy you might have to line up for a while.

When entering Hong Kong you will have to fill out an arrival card (in English) and present this with your passport to an immigration official. As with the Mainland part, there are different windows for foreigners, Mainland Chinese and Hong Kong residents, which will be clearly indicated.

A small Hong Kong visitor's visa pass with the amount of days you are allowed to stay will be stamped in your passport. Again, this is a fast and simple process.

The next step is the Hong Kong Customs. Follow the green channel for 'nothing to declare' and the red channel if you want to declare taxable goods. There are notices in English describing what has to be declared and how much tobacco and alcohol is permitted.

The immigration and customs officials on the Hong Kong side will all speak excellent English. (On the Mainland China side they will speak basic levels of English but if the need arises fluent English-speaking staff are on call to assist you).

The Mainland China and Hong Kong immigration and customs checkpoints will be located slightly differently at different border points. At Luo Hu they are all in the same building. After passing through the Mainland China side you walk over an enclosed bridge to Hong Kong Immigration.
