Drive across China? |

Does anyone know if it's possible to drive your own vehicle through China?
If not, any suggestions for an alternative route?
I'm hoping to circumnavigate the globe in my own vehicle with as little ocean travel as possible. |

if you have the will then it may certainly be possible. however, you do need a special license o drive anything in china (unsure what the requirements are). Also, there are tons of tolls along the way. But the main reason for not driving through china? the people drive crazy! i guess if you are really good at bumper cars then give it a go.
special Permit is essential for privit traveller if you are not in a travel group. Private traveller will vist Forign affair office ,PSB,Tourism Bureau and ?(i cannot remember it)respectively to get the Permit.
A friend of mine living in China told me that to drive in China you need to have a Chinese license. Licenses are given only to foreigners who are living in China, and are sponsored by their employer.
If you hit someone or someone hits you (which is highly likely) , there will be instant judgement on the street about whose fault it was and who should compensate who. Being the "rich" foreigner, it will always be your fault. |

I believe employers consent is not so essential any more, but that will depend on the region. Try www.gd-gd.com to find out. |
